Privacy Slats

Privacy slats are available in many different types from many different manufacturers, the two types indicated here are the most commonly used. Additional slat types can be seen at  www.pdsfence.com. One important factor to consider before slatting a chain link fence is that your fence must be able to handle the additional wind load that is created by using privacy slats. Installing slats in a chain link fence increases not only the degree of privacy but also the wind resistance by approximately 75% and unless your fence was built to handle this load a modest to high wind condition could cause extensive post failure and costly repairs. To determine whether or not your fence can be slatted you need to first determine the outside diameter and the wall thickness or gauge of pipe used for your posts then give us a call.   

Bottom-Locking (Narrow) Slats

• Design: Bottom-Locking Slats are flat tubular in shape, with reinforced "legs" inside for extra durability. The patented locking channel provides a "snap in" locking effect for security.

• Fast & Easy Installation:  Insert the locking channel horizontally through the bottom of the fence, then simply slide the vertical slats from the top of the fence down into the channel and they will automatically lock into place.

• Standard Heights:  4 ft., 5 ft., 6 ft., 7 ft., 8 ft., 10 ft., 12 ft. Special heights available upon request.

• Slat Size: 3 1/2" shorter that the overall height of the fence X 1 3/32" wide.

• Wind Load and Privacy Factor:  Approximately 75%.
  

Industrial Pre-Woven (Wide) Slats

Installation:  This unique style is mechanically inserted into the 9-gauge chain link wire during the weaving process.  Once inserted, the wire is finished above and below the slat (either bow-knuckle or knuckle-over) and then secured by either staple or stitch.  Because this slat comes pre-inserted in the chain link fabric, just stretch the wire and tie it up.  The result is a fully slatted fence with color and sight reduction.
• Standard Height: 4 ft., 6 ft., 8 ft., 10 ft.  Special heights available upon request
• Slat Size: Full height of chain link fabric X 2 3/8" wide woven into a 3 1/2" X 5" chain link mesh.
• Wind Load and Privacy Factor:  Approximately 75%
